10 min talks from TEN Conference

I enjoyed being part of SmallBoatBigSea‘s Ten Conference recently, celebrating their 10th anniversary.

SBBS is the church community where friend and mentor Michael Frost is based, and its quite obviously an authentic, creative missional community.

It was a brilliant packed weekend because, similarly to TED, each speaker had only 10 or 20 min to speak. Just the essentials.

Speakers also included Dan Kimball, Ed Stetzer, Olivia Maclean, Jon Owen, Mike and myself. 16 talks in a day (I did three).

Anyhow, the talks are all available for free download here.

Talks from ‘The Road’

Several weeks ago I was privileged to speak at The Road event in Melbourne hosted by my old mate Mark Sayers.

It was a fantastic weekend with about 250 young adults.

The theme of the day was the cultural myth of life as essentially an individualistic journey of escape from responsibility, community and covenant, perhaps first articulated in popular culture through the iconic novel On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

I spoke on how this cultural myth has influenced a Christian recent tendency to drop evangelism as an essential component of mission; and de=emphasise the personal influence of the Holy Spirit.

The talks from all the presenters including Mark Sayers, Sarah Deutscher, Andrew Shamy are now available for free on iTunes here.
